We understand...
As you journey thru life, your goals change. You're older now (aging gracefully). You're wiser. You've managed your career path to bring you to this exact point in your life. As you've refined your view of the world, your idea of "home" has evolved. You find yourself driving thru neighborhoods, going to open houses. You've most likely begun looking thru periodicals and online sites to compare what you currently have with what you desire... You are ready for the next step; ready for Sticks&Stones to turn your vision into a home custom taylored to meet - scratch that - exceed your dreams.
We ensure this by learning as much as we can about client and site before pen ever hits paper. Thru a continuing dialogue we look to discover everything that makes our client (and eventually their new home) unique. From this, project goals are developed which will guide the design process. Once the design is developed, we present to our client with materials, finishes and fixtures selected to complement their design sense and complete their home.
In the end, we want for each of our clients to see themselves reflected in every aspect of their new home.

By varying the massing and the materials, we developed the space the client needed in a design that sets harmoniously into it's surroundings.
Incorporating the mahogany railing, leather strapping and stainless steel cables, the stair reflects this home's seamless transition between inside and out.

LAKE HOUSE 002
A synergy of location, design and environmentally conscious construction created a vacation home for our client that honors the heritage of it's surroundings while providing this multi-generational family all the room they need to relax and reconnect.
The traditional finishes conceal the state-of -the-art SIPS panel shell that, along with the geothermal HVAC system, reduces heating and cooling bills of this 7,800 s.f. home by 75% over conventional construction.
Custom designed and hand-crafted by Sticks&Stones, this home is infused with unique features at every turn.
The hearth and heart of the home is the massive wrought iron, stone and wood fireplace.
The rhythm of pine and fir in this Family Room was designed to evoke the comforting feel of being inside a canopy of trees.
Breathtaking views await on the other side of the three story high bridge.

MOUNTAIN RETREAT
Located within a four-seasons resort area, this mountain top home was designed as a gateway to the outdoors. With picturesque views and easy access to the slopes or the lake below, adventure is right outside the door.
Inside the home, family and friends can gather in the massive, three story family room to play a board game, or cozy up around the fireplace to roast s'mores. Each of the 4 en-suites open into this communal space. For the daring, there is a third floor bridge that leads you out to a balcony with a commanding view of this home's bucolic setting.
Dine outdoors on the large covered porch while the children climb on the massive boulders that the home was designed to nestles into.
From the home's railing to the hand-crafted light fixtures; Sticks&Stones put heart and soul into this show home.
Exterior massing centers on a welcoming entry courtyard.
The home's entry was developed around our concept of intimate scale and use of warm, natural materials to create a charming focal point that draws visitors in.
With it's custom built wooden base, even the Laundry sink couldn't escape our design vision.

WOODLANDS RESIDENCE
Feel the southern hospitality from the moment you step down into the garden courtyard, pass the babbling fountain and twist the key on the manual doorbell to announce your arrival.
The board-and-batten and stone exterior harks back to the areas historic past, while the interior exudes southern charm. From it's antique heart pine floors to the exposed timbers, this home exemplifies our ability to mix the old and the new to create a modern classic.
Every nook and cranny of this home is filled by our custom design features. A cushioned nook in the kids room, a copper-lief ceiling, custom island countertop and a lower level wine cellar accessed by a spiral stair hidden behind a bookcase.
The Great Room incorporated Dining, Living and Music areas. A 32 foot bow wall of windows offers ample light and fantastic mountain views.
Kitchen cabinetry was built on-site as was the dyed concrete countertops.
All the sink bases and mirrors in this home were custom designed and built from quarter-sawn white oak.

HORSE COUNTRY CRAFTSMAN
Our very first design, this one is near and dear to our hearts. Not only did this project give our fledgling company the publicity we wanted, it also landed us our first three clients.
What we referred to as a "lighter, airer take on the craftsman style", The Hook touted as being "an impressive crossbreed that will make light-loving modernists glad to come home".
The custom, hand-crafted features throughout this home served as notice that we were here to offer homeowners personalized designs taylored to their lifestyle.
Located on a sloping site near water, we designed this home around an entry courtyard filled with the soothing sounds of a babbling brook water feature that cascades over three waterfalls as it winds down, under and around the home.
This project was developed around the concept of "relaxed elegance". It's wood, stucco and stone exterior theme is carried through to the light-filled, timberframe interior that is at once intimate and ready to entertain.
A "cathedral to relaxation", the inspiration for this spa/poolhouse design was the image of a fairytale grotto of trees growing up to encircle and protect the organic-shaped pool, waterfall and pond. Large windows hand-crank open by way of exposed gears and large boulders used as counterweights.
